Editorial Process
JAAHC seeks to put into practice an open process of peer review with the philosophy that the comments, critiques, and exchanges that comprise the review process should function as a scholarly work in itself.
Submissions that are appropriate for the journal and that at least appear to have scholarly merit will be posted to a private section of the website, with the author names hidden from view. Reviewers will be asked to comment on the article though an interface that allows them to comment on words, sentences, paragraphs, sections, or the entire article. Reviewers will need to sign in to post comments, which will NOT be posted anonymously, for other reviewers and the author to see.
After the review period is closed, the editors will determine if an article should be accepted as is, accepted with expectation of revision, or deemed inappropriate for the journal. To have an article accepted for “publication” means that it gains a place within the Journal’s permanent archive, including a DOI and a persistent URL. The initial draft and comments will be archived and publicly visible, but readers will be able to read only the final version or browse the reviewers’ comments and discussion.
All articles accepted for publication and other content on the website will be covered under a Creative Commons license. We are especially keen to hear from authors who are more interested in sharing their ideas, having work reviewed by a wide range of peers, improving the peer review process, and making ideas as broadly accessible as possible.
